Wordtracker Instant Traffic Tip
Hi guys and gals,
Now I know when you start a website, you want to see traffic immediately - especially if you’ve been working for a month or so. Well here is a tip that can give you that occasional traffic boost. Always remember that its all about ‘conversion’ or how many of your visitors are taking action on your site.
This tip can help you increase traffic but not so much on your sales. I mean you can come across a keyword here and now using this technique but overall, just stick to this post I made about Wordtracker. Only use the following tip if you feel really ’sad’ about your traffic and just need a boost to satisfy your ‘thinking’ that “Yes! I can get traffic to my website!”. I guess use this tip to cure your mental block. And believe me, you CAN get traffic and bucket loads of it!
It’s the person who is slow but steady on the internet that creates an internet business - Even a site like Digg took a year before it exploded!
Check out their traffic stats that I pulled from Alexa:

As long as your site’s traffic seems to be increasing every month, you are on the right track. Little fluctuations in traffic don’t matter - its just the search engines updating and stuff.
Okay here is the tip:
Step 1: After logging into Wordtracker, click on “Comprehensive Search”.

Step 2: Type in a keyword (single word) that describes your products or service in a very general way.

Step 3: After pressing submit, you should now see traffic data on that keyword and other related to it. Click on evaluate and select the two search engines you want to use for this analysis.

Step 4: Click on the button that reads “Google KEI”. Don’t worry about KEI, I’ll share my thoughts on it in some other post.

Step 5: Behold, you just discovered keywords that are getting the highest amount of traffic - and here comes the kicker . . . - but with the lowest amount of competition (Other sites found when someone types that keyword).

What this means is you can create an article about that keyword, pop it in your site and as soon is it gets indexed, you are getting traffic! Now do I recommend you use this strategy to build traffic to your site? - not really . . . I use this strategy maybe once a month just to see if their is anything new that is popping up in my market or to get a traffic boost. It’s just a tip. But not something that is a ‘must’ - If you can find relevant keywords for your site using this tip then awesome, but stick to this strategy ALL THE TIME! Think of this ‘Traffic Boosting’ Wordtracker tip as a bonus trick.
Plus its not guaranteed that you will get the exact amounts of hits mentioned- as it could be higher or lower, but on average that is what you will get.
Did I apply this tip to the case study?
Yup! But I couldn’t find a keyword relevant enough that had hardly any competing sites under it (Like only 4 sites in that example), so I couldn’t really take advantage in my case. However, one keyword “Red Red Wine By UB40″ seems to be generating regular traffic. No sales, just traffic :). Plus I wrote an article and put the their music video on it because I like the song and I think it adds a personal touch to the site.
