Over 700+ backlinks in 2.5 months
Written by June Beezy on March 16, 2008 – 7:41 pm -Hey guys,
Here is a little update on my backlinks for my case study - those who don’t know - if you have a one page site, but 1000s of other domains linking to you (Have your link on their site), you will still be able to get top rankings for that page. Lets face it, content is great but when promoting a product of your own, you have to get backlinks to get it up there in the search engines (Google, Yahoo or MSN).
Google likes to think that if your content is unique enough or exciting enough, people will link to it - I agree - that is why I’m hardly doing any backlinks for WDclub (This site), but I’m also promoting a product and most likely no matter how cool your product is, people are not just going to link to you for nothing - especially the competition. It’s just the reality of the situation.
So you have to do it yourself and do it daily. Below is my current snapshot as of today March 15th, 2008.
Exactly 2.5 months from when I started my backlink campaign.

How did I get these backlinks this fast?
1. I joined ArticleMarketer (3 months membership that I will be renewing)
2. I sent a SEO Press Release for about $200 bones with anchor text through PRweb (Even got a response from a Direct Marketing company who does infomercials - but my product needs more development in the looks area for me to go ahead with that. This will happen in due time but definitely not right now).
3. Good old fashion directory submissions - everyone of them. I use a software called Arelis or better known today as IBP. This software automates 90% of the annoying manual tasks - I’ve been using this software for like 5 years folks! Love it!
I wanted to add a little something to number 3: Using the Arelis software, I imported all the SEO Friendly Directories at Info Silencer (Great FREE Service by the way) and submit to 50 directories daily. Takes me about an hour with the software.
NOTE: I’ve submitted my link to over 400 directories so far guys and gals. With my anchor text
4. MISC stuff - I added an article to digg, stumble upon and a add for a model for my product but it also gives me a backlink. And some minor traffic.
Next step is to keep writing articles and utilize each category on ArticleMarketer.com but we’ll see . . . and of course I still have 300 directories to post to. I’m getting backlinks from wherever I can and so should you (White Hat ofcourse - all the time).
How has all this work effected my traffic? Yeah my traffic seems to be picking up on MSN and Yahoo but no so much on Google - serps are coming along great on Google but not my main keywords yet - for that I need a lot more backlinks (Possible sandbox effect).
So if you are like me working your ass of for backlinks and have a few hundred of them, don’t quit - keep getting more.
I’m currently developing a link bait idea for my case study site - I think that would be a long shot but its worth it. However, that doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be doing what I’m already have been doing - for backlinks - you have to do what you can - and more.
Their were some temptations along the way too and I had to stop them.
Telalinks and Track Back Spider (Don’t deserve a backlink from here).
I canceled with both of them after like 3 days or so - Telalinks looked very shady (Fake Pagerank) and Trackback Spider will be caught by Google sooner or later (Screw shortcuts man!) as a human being I sometimes fall into the getting results faster mindset but my 2 months of hard work isn’t worth it - so stay away from such services.
Say NO to backlinks temptations!
Give your site at least 365 days to become a success, work on it daily and the results will come. Enjoy your life, don’t kill yourself and just stick to a routine.

Hi June,
A superb post. Thanks for sharing.
Some time ago, I used the demo version of IBP and found it pretty useful but the price deterred me from getting the full version.
Seeing how you used it has just caused me to re-examine that software.
Submission to 50 directories takes just 1 hour? Hmm …

Well when I got it and that was almost 5 years ago, It was actually 2 products - you could either get Arelis or IBP. Now they’ve combined both of them. The price now I believe is actually cheaper because I got it for about $149 or so I think . . . Trust me, the software is kick ass! Once you start posting you’ll keep on posting like crazy - also their are very creative ways of using it besides just for link exchanges or what not. I use it strictly for directory submissions right now and yes 50 directories in just one hour. Absolutely. Plus their support is what has kept me their customer - i think i only contacted them twice and that is about it. Brilliant must have software for any internet marketer.
